I am proud to announce that Medallia received a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), ranking us among the 609 major businesses that earned a top score of 100 percent and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality. This was Medallia’s first year participating in the index, which is a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.
Inclusion has long been a driving priority at Medallia and is something that we hold very near and dear to our hearts. The 2018 CEI evaluated participating organizations on LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
Christy Lake, VP of People and Culture, also serves as the Executive Sponsor of Q-field. She said, “I’m thrilled to see Medallia recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality! One of our core values is Valuing People, and our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone is a natural extension of that.”
In addition to being a reflection of our deeply held values, this score is also a testament to the strength and spirit of Q-field, Medallia’s global LGBTQ+ resource group. Driven by their mission to give voice and give back to the LGBTQ+ community, Q-field engages in fundraising and community outreach events, internal celebrations for Pride month and National Coming Out Day, and recruiting and branding initiatives targeted to LGBTQ+ candidates.
Russell Abdo, senior marketing specialist and Q-field leader, said “To get a perfect score speaks volumes about the work Medallia is doing to support our LGBTQ+ teammates. It’s both thrilling and inspiring to be able to come to work every day knowing that our community is not just supported, but welcomed with open arms. It feels like there is so much left to do, but this validates that we are moving in the right direction, and that every small step is worth it.”
We are proud to have scored so highly on Human Rights Campaign index, and we know that the work doesn’t stop here. Medallia will continue to evolve and implement our policies and practices so that we can guarantee all of our employees a work environment that is welcoming.
