Like many other leaders in the tech industry and beyond, we are greatly disturbed by President Trump’s recent executive order restricting immigration from 7 countries. The order goes against the very values that we hold dear as a company.
Medallia was built with and for people of all backgrounds; our co-founder—my husband—is himself an immigrant. Today, it is more important than ever that we come together as an inclusive community and welcome people of all backgrounds, faiths, and political ideologies. We cannot afford to stay silent.
Below is the email that we sent to all Medallia employees regarding the President’s executive order:
Hi Medallians,
As many of you know, President Trump issued an executive order on Friday that restricted immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen — for at least 90 days. Personally, Borge and I strongly disagree with this order and know many of you feel the same way.
We think the order contradicts some of our foundational beliefs. Welcoming people from all countries, religions, and cultures is not only a hallmark of American and Medallian values – but also an essential driver our country’s and company’s continued innovation and economic success.
On the topic of inclusion, I also want to remind you that Medallians share various political opinions. As we voice our concerns, let’s also remember to honor our differences and thrive as an inclusive community.
Finally, I want to assure you that we have been in touch with Medallians and their families who are impacted. We are working with our immigration lawyers to provide support and legal counsel as needed.
