- Extracurricular activities:
- Long-distance running, including marathons (Honolulu, Vancouver, London), and tennis, including playing with co-workers at the courts next to the new expansion office.
Role:
Implement our solution for new clients and manage the client relationship over time.
Most enjoyable part of the job:
Mix of team-based and independent work. I really enjoy the job, especially working both collaboratively with clients and colleagues and autonomously on configuring the software. The mix provides a nice opportunity to switch gears when I need to.
Learned about Medallia:
Google search. I was attempting to combine my hotel operations and technology backgrounds—I have a bachelor’s in hotel management from Cornell and worked for several years at a CRM company.
Favorite aspects of Medallia:
Application, co-workers, and clients.
What makes application unique:
Its flexibility and configurability. Because of the flexibility of our solution, I can usually say ‘yes’ when clients ask, ‘Can we do x?’ I like being able to say ‘Yes.’
What makes employees unique:
Their caliber. The people here are amazing. Not only are they geniuses or borderline geniuses, but also they’re really fun personalities who come to work with a ‘what’s it going to take to get it done’ attitude. I like how collaborative the work environment is. Everyone will help you with a question or brainstorming. And we’re keeping up the quality of people even as we grow at a fast pace.
What makes clients unique:
Their intelligence and commitment to excellence. Our clients are well educated on our product and want to deliver exceptional quality to their organizations. They are exactly the type of high-caliber clients you want to work with as a Project Manager.
Latest job challenge:
Employees reporting to me. The shift from focusing 100 percent on my own work to making sure my reports are busy and challenged is not easy. It’s a different mindset.
Years between first learning of Medallia and working here:
Four. When I first reached out to Medallia, the company was too lean to hire, so I moved to another software firm out of state. When I returned to the Bay Area, they were hiring.
Most obvious change in four years:
The growth. Not just in terms of people but in terms of clients: the company had expanded beyond hospitality into financial services, retail, and much more.
