- Fun Facts:
-
I am an army brat, so I have lived in 12 different cities. I received a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering in India.
My hobbies include start-ups/high-tech industry events that occur in Palo Alto or on the Stanford campus, and that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. I also enjoy running on trails around Stanford and Palo Alto.
What initially drew you to apply to work at Medallia?
Medallia’s friendly culture and its “hire no jerks” policy.
I met some people at the Stanford career fair and then a friend got an offer, which initially drove my interest.
What other opportunities and fields were you considering?
My major was in Operations Management, so I was looking at supply chain roles in bigger firms like Cisco, HP, etc. But I was soon enamored of the high-growth software and internet industry in the Valley.
Why did you ultimately choose Medallia?
When I came to interview at the old office, it reminded me of the Zappos work environment and I loved it.
I also realized that the leadership team had a very clear vision for the company and how they wanted the culture to evolve.
How has your experience measured up to your expectations? What surprised you or has surprised you over time?
The level of constant and genuine care that Medallians show towards each other has surprised me. This is reflected in initiatives like the “Wellness Challenge,” fit bits at work, and frequent get-togethers. As far as expectations for my experience, I worry more about living up to the expectations of my co-workers. I have no complaints.
How does your experience at Medallia compare to your friends’ experiences in other jobs?
I’ve never really thought to compare it.
How would you describe your responsibilities at Medallia?
On a day-to-day basis, I get to build the Medallia software for different kinds of clients in different verticals. I get to understand the challenges that these kinds of clients face and how our products can analyze structured or unstructured client data to provide actionable insights.
What was your job prior to Medallia?
I was at Stanford getting my master’s in Management Science and Engineering. I interned at Oracle and NVIDIA during that time. Before that, I was an application engineer for a software firm catering to the semiconductor industry.
What are some similarities/differences between your past and current roles?
Similarities: A lot of the time I spent in my last job was helping clients with complex software and solutions.
Differences: Medallia is SaaS, so we can deal with any problem within our own company, no flying long distances or spending a lot of time at the customer location. Also, unlike my previous role, I can see the tangible impact we have on our customers’ business.
What is the best thing about working at Medallia?
For me, it’s the freshly cut watermelon when I come into the office (only half joking!). I really like the team I work with. We have our own name, a T-shirt, the works!
How would you describe Medallia to your friends? What would you want them to know about Medallia?
I would describe Medallia as a growing company with exceptional leadership, in a space that is really going to expand.
