The Opportunity
Medallia, Inc. is looking for a bright, passionate Operations Engineer to join our Operations Team and support our fast-growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a “can-do” attitude to efficiently support our internal operations and maintain the health of our production environment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute significantly to a team responsible for delivering 24×7 application availability to Medallia’s customers worldwide.
- Setup, deploy and maintain enterprise class servers and oversee critical production systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot production, staging, and testing environments, including periodic code deployments.
- Assist in defining, documenting, and enforcing IT system policies and procedures.
- Participate in performance, load, and stress testing for scalability and technology planning.
- Help improve monitoring solutions and automate tasks to improve the quality and efficiency of our operations.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation.
- Work with developers to support new services and features.
Experience/Skills
Required qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system (preferably RedHat Enterprise Linux)
- Good scripting knowledge (such as bash, perl, python, etc.)
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for hardware/software, network and application issues
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Java application stack deployment
- Familiarity with Virtualization
- Experience with Performance, Load and/or Stress testing
- Experience building and configuring the network infrastructure to support and secure major Internet host/network services, including but not limited to: web (HTTP, etc.), mail (Postfix, etc.), DNS, NFS, LDAP, and databases
- Firewall/security experience (access control list (ACL) management., secure remote management practices, IDS, etc.)
- Experience working with load balancers, switches, routers, and other networking equipment
